Happy 50th Birthday To Ryan Stiles!

Today, April 22nd, 2009, marks a huge milestone in Mr. Stiles' life - his 50th birthday! Yes, today Ryan turns the big 5-0, and everyone at Ryan Stiles Net would like to wish him the happiest of birthdays. Ryan, we sincerely hope that you have a lovely, relaxing, most wonderful day! We thank you for everything and all that you do. May there be many more years of laughter still to come!

Ryan To Star In ABC Sitcom Pilot For "The Anita Renfroe Presentation"

Word has it that Ryan is set to star in a new family sitcom along with female comedian Anita Renfroe. The sitcom currently sounds like it has a fairly typical storyline - a couple trying to raise their children. The pilot is currently in the works, and is catered towards ABC. There is no word yet on when or if the pilot will be picked up, or if filming has even commensed. We will provide you with more news as it unfolds! Here is a bit of a further synopsis:

Anita Renfroe and Ryan Stiles ("The Drew Carey Show") star in a new family sitcom centered around the thought that family comes first, by any means necessary. Anita has a unique brand of estrogen flavored comedy and blend of sass, edge and slightly offbeat take on all things female.

New "The Best Of Whose Line" DVD To Be Released

The last time a Whose Line DVD was released, it was fall of 2007 with the second DVD of season 1. Since then, we have eagerly been anticipating the next DVD release, believing that season 2 would follow. However, that doesn't seem to be the case, as it was recently announced that the next DVD would instead be "The Best Of Whose Line Is It Anyway?".

"The Best Of Whose Line" will be a two disc DVD set consisting of ten episodes that are supposed to represent the absolute best of Whose Line. The region one (US & Canada only) DVD will be released on June 9th of this year.

Below is text from a statement released on tvshowsondvd.com that describes the DVD release in more detail:

Drew Carey hosts this American version of the British improvisational comedy series as an ensemble performs unrehearsed "games" before a live audience. No one gets voted off the show. That would be too easy. Instead contestants face crueler fates: be a fish on a TV dating show, Adam and Eve when they first converse, a doo-wop group singing about a girl (and a tragic taxidermy accident). We're not making this up. They are.

Host Drew Carey, a clever crew of comedy regulars and special guests (David Hasselhoff, Florence Henderson, Jerry Springer, Richard Simmons, bodybuilder Jane Tricker and more) come up with funny-on-the-fly in the hit series that crosses a game show with mad improvisation. Discover 10 of the show's best episodes with all of the censor bars and bleeps removed, so you can enjoy every bit of the delicious and daring funny business in all its glory. Uncensored means that the potential for laughter is unlimited!

Warner Home Video has announced that a DVD release titled Whose Line Is It Anyway? - The Best Of will come to stores on June 9th. This 2-disc, 300-minute release contains 10 favorite episodes of the classic, kooky series, at a cost of $24.98 SRP. Below is a list of those episodes:

Show No. 308 "Ryan smashing head" (First Aired: Thursday June 14, 2001)
Show No. 401 "good show with Wayne as Singing Bass and kissing Colin" (First Aired: Thursday September 6, 2001)
Show No. 413 Too Hot For Whose Line (First Aired: Wednesday October 3, 2001)
Show No. 512 "with Florence Henderson" (First Aired: Monday September 30, 2002)
Show No. 521 "with Richard Simmons" (First Aired: Friday June 20, 2003)
Show No. 610 "with Kathy Griffin & David Hasselhoff" (First Aired: Friday June 27, 2003)
Show No. 611 "with bodybuilder Jane Tricker" (First Aired: Friday July 11, 2003)
Show No. 505 Valentine's Day Show "with Loyola Marymount Cheerleaders" (First Aired: Saturday August 7, 2004)
Show No. 419 "Fluff your Garfield" show
Show No. 612 Jerry Springer in "Dubbing" game / Colin dancing in "Greatest Hits" game

Memory Lanes Sitcom A Possibility

Memory Lanes is a sitcom written by Ryan Stiles and Sean Masterson that has been in the works for years. Slowly, yet surely, the program has been making process, and now it looks like it just actually might become a reality. The pilot has already been filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, and three more scripts have been ordered. If the show goes on air, it will be airing on Canadian television (with hopes that US stations will eventually pick it up). Current prospects are looking at a possible fall premiere of the show, though nothing is set in stone yet. Stay tuned for more Memory Lanes updates!

Ryan Stiles Net Is On A Temporary Hiatus
For a multitude of reasons, I am going to have to put RSN on a temporary hiatus.

What does that mean? Well, it essentially means no updates for a little while. But, as you can see, I haven't updated since about March - so technically the site has been on a hiatus since then, and I just haven't had the energy to post it until now.

I don't want people to panic - we're not shutting down, we're not closing, we're not turning off any pages. I just can't work on the site much at this point in time. Why? For a few reasons. One, my life is crazy busy right now. I am juggling severe health issues on top of two jobs and being a full-time university student. Secondly, with what little (practically nonexistent) free time I do have, I like to put towards Greg Proops Net. Greg himself actually supports GPN and uses it, so it's kind of more important for me to keep that updated. Also, Greg happens to be doing a lot more right now than Ryan, so he and that site keeps me pretty busy.

So what are my plans with RSN? I am going to redesign it - yes, again. I am well aware that there's a lot of browser issues with the current layout. Also, I improve my design and layout skills all of the time, so the new layout should be the best one yet. (It will likely be similar to the one used on GPN.) When do I plan to do this? Right now, I'm looking at winter break. We'll just have to see how things go!

So thank you for bearing with me. If you need tour schedule updates for Whose Live Anyway? and ticket info and such, I suggest keeping an eye on GPN. I update that tour schedule frequently with all of the proper information.

Until later, folks! Please keep enjoying the site, but just know that there won't be anything new for a little while longer.

4-22-09

After nearly half a year of being gone, Ryan Stiles Net has returned with its official grand re-opening, and it's back with a vengeance! RSN is now bigger and better than ever before, with new features, upgrades, updates, and more! Please read below to find what all has been changed and added.

First and foremost, RSN is now sporting a new version - Version 4.0. This new layout is cleaner with a bit of a more professional look about it. It has wider font for easiest reading, a drop-down menu for improved site navigation, and its blue shades are easier on the eyes.

However, one very important aspect of the new layout is the new and greatly improved news system. Rather than clumping all of the news together on the main page and thus making it hard to sort through, RSN now has two different news sections - The Stiles Sentinel for Ryan-related news, and The Network News for site news and updates. These news systems are powered by MovableType, which is an intricate tool that automatically archived the posts, and allows for user feedback and comments, tracking, RSS systems, tagging, and more. It makes finding both current and past news as simple as clicking a button. It's organized, it's clean, and it's sleek in both design and content.

The website, however, isn't the only thing to receive a new layout. Our Livejournal community, Ryanism, has also been renovated inside and out. Over the next few weeks, we'll be kicking the community into high gear to really kick it off. So if you haven't joined the community yet, please do! Also over the next couple of weeks, our forum will receive a major makeover as well. The Galleries will also undergo some restructing with major updates.

We have a small handful of brand-new pages available for you. To begin with, we have an all-new Guestbook. If you're enjoying the new and improved RSN, or are new to the website, or if perhaps you're a long-time fan of us, then please, drop us a line or two! We'd love to hear your comments!

We also have an important new page called the Donate page. Few realize the extremity of the fees I pay for the upkeeping and maintaining of the site and all of its literally tens of thousands of files. It's quite expensive, and thus, I have opened the Donate page for visitors who wished to contribute a bit to the site as a way of saying thanks. All donators, no matter the amount, are extremely appreciated, and will be personally thanked.

There is also a new reviews page! If you've seen Rainbow War (What? You haven't? Scroll down to check out the video clips updates, then.), then you can now submit reviews, summaries, and your own personal thoughts on the Rainbow War review page.

If you've been itching to have a bit of new reading material, then allow us to point you in the direction of three new Articles & Interviews! Yes, there are now three additional articles for your reading pleasure. They include:

- Laughs On The Fly (3-18-09)
- Ryan Stiles To Help Out Bellingham Improv Groups (3-19-09)
- Whose Coming To Salem, Anyway? (4-13-09)

If you'd rather listen to something than read, and have been searching for something new to add to your iPod, then look no further. We now have 15 new Audio Clips! From Outlaw Radio to a new interview, we hope that you will find these new audio tidbits satisfying. They consist of:

Another area of the site to receive major renovation is our Icons & Avatars page. The area is now partitioned off to each individual artist, with specific details on how to credit, contact info, etc. per page. This area is still heavily under construction, so as time goes by, more and more icons will be added. For now, though, please enjoy the vast array of icons presented by some very talented and kindly artists!

Upon the same thread of visual arts, we have quite a lot of new graphic goodies for you. There are now 13 new pieces of Fanart, thanks to a handful of dedicated artists. You can also find 4 new Wallpapers for decorating your desktop with. There are also 26 new Graphics and Colorbars to use on your Livejournal, MySpace, blog, or wherever. (Note: The former Ryan Buttons page has been renamed to Graphics.) Likewise, 26 new Link To Us buttons and banners have been uploaded. Please feel free to use these graphics to link to RSN to help spread the word about the return of the site!

Lastly, but far from least, there have been a host of pages that have gone through some updates. Why We Love Ryan, You Know You're Obsessed With Ryan Stiles When, The History Of Ryan Stiles Net, The FAQ, Webmistress Diane, and the Links & Affiliates page have all had substantial updates and moderations. Additionally, Version 3.0 has been tucked away into The Archive. Please check out all of these pages for new information, altered text, and more.

Our final note consists of the fact that we have two new websites that are a part of the Ryan Stiles Net and Greg Proops Net family. These websites are Chip Esten Unlimited and Jeff Davis Unlimited. No, they are not run by me, but rather by my dear friend Brittany. If you are a fan of either Chip or Jeff (or both!), then please, do stop on by and check out her wonderful work! CU and JU are fairly young and new sites, and thus need love and nurturing to grow. So please support our new sister sites! And, as always, please continue to support Greg Proops Net, which is in dire need of some loving, too.

In closing, let it be said that although the site has officially reopened, I was unable to get everything completed 100% in time, in terms of renovations. There are still a few pages on the site that have yet to be updated and converted to the new layout. Rest assurred that they will be updated momentarily. I also realize that there were no photo updates this time round, for which I apologize. The Galleries will be receiving some trimming and I plan on adding a lot of new photos and screencaps in the near future.

However, I just wanted to end this massive news posting with a sincere thank you to each and every one of RSN's visitors. During the time that RSN was down, I received well over fifty emails from people asking for me to bring the site back. I just wanted to say how much those emails meant, how much I appreciated them. I work very hard at what I do, and it's always very nice to know when my efforts are enjoyed by others. Please feel free to drop me lines by emailing me, or in the guestbook. I might not reply, but rest assured that I do, in fact, read everything. So, thank you again - and ciao until the next update!
